FAQ - frequently asked questions

3. What does Career Organiser change on my system?

A: We don't make any changes to your computer system, for example to the screen resolution, or any other system property.

If you're using the hard disc version of Career Organiser, we save files only in approved folders on your computer, and all your personal files - CVs, covering letters etc, are all stored in your 'My Career' folder.

4. Where does the programme store files on my system?

A:  With the flash drive versions, all files are saved on the flash drive and not on your computer system.

With the hard disk version, your personal files are stored in your 'My Career' folder, and the programme files are saved in Windows approved folders such as the 'Application Data' folder (eg C:/Documents and settings/All Users/Application data).

5. How do I uninstall the programme?

A: You don't need to uninstall the flash drive version of Career Organiser because it does not store files on your computer's hard disk.

If you want to uninstall the programme from the flash drive, then you can simply re-format the drive - but this will mean the programme will no longer function.

To uninstall the hard disk version, go the Start Menu, choose the Must Have Guides program group, and then 'career Organiser' and then choose 'Uninstall Career Organiser'. The User Guide has more information about uninstalling the programme from your hard disk.

6. The video doesn't play properly, what's going wrong
?

A: First, you must have QuickTime installed on your system (see above for details about how you can get this.

If you've got QuickTime installed and the video in the programme seems slow, or 'stutters' when it's playing back, you can try changing the properties in the QuickTime control panel which you can find in 'Control Panel' from your Start menu.

7. Why can't I record my voice?

A: You must have a microphone connected to your computer before you start the programme. This is particularly important if you're using a USB microphone and headset combined - we've tested USB microphones and they give good results with our programme.

Next, make sure that your microphone is not set to 'mute' in the sound properties. To check this, double-click on the small icon on the taskbar at the bottom right of your desktop.
