Redundancy can strike anyone, at any time. With budget cuts still working their way through the economy, there's bound to be more redundancies on the way.

The days of 'jobs for life' are long gone, and we all need to be able to cope with changing  circumstances in our working lives.

Redundancy can be a very bitter blow. You may feel shocked, resentful and confused.

But when bills have to be paid, you may need another job fast. Or at the very least, you may need to spend some time thinking about the direction your career is going to take.

At difficult times like these, working with a career coach can be invaluable to consider your options and decide what you really want to do with your life. Then make it happen.

Don't just take our word for it - read these comments frm one of our previous clients:

Coaching after redundancy

At the time I engaged Peter as my Life Coach, I'd just lost my job and was at a crossroads in my life. I was depressed, I felt numb after a difficult final few months at work, I was jobless and didn't know where I wanted to take my career. In addition, it was the worst possible time to be unemployed, with the financial downturn and the lack of opportunities in the job market.

Peter made an immediate impact, addressing issues of self-esteem as well as giving me practical advice on how to manage my time. He helped me develop a daily career activity plan to research and apply for jobs as well as a winning CV and cover letter template. He also helped me change the way I think about myself, giving me a positive attitude and making me feel motivated.

The combination of practical and personal advice had a direct impact - not only did I feel good about myself but, within a short time I was called for two interviews and got one of the jobs! Peter's invaluable support and guidance prior to the interviews, as well as his help on my CV and cover letters, played a major part in my getting the job. I now feel happier, better about myself and have, with Peter's help, steered my career in a new direction. I can't thank Peter enough!

Louis - client

With our coaching, Louis got one jb interview in just a few days! And he got a job he really wanted within just a couple of months. After that, with continuing coaching support, his new position was made permanent, and he also got a substantial pay rise - less than 6 months after he was made redundant.

Another of our clients never had a day off work! As soon as she knew she was to be made redundant, she came to us for coaching and planned her strategy to find a part-time job. Within just a couple of weeks - even before she had left her old job - she had her new position. She left her old job on the Friday and started the new one on the following Tuesday, after a bank holiday. So, she never had a single day being unemployed.
Here's what she had to say about her experience:

I didn’t expect at the outset that the process would be so helpful. Peter gave great support at key points in my period of change and was available and flexible to needs.

He gave me the strength and encouragement to proceed with things I knew needed to be done but sometimes lacked the motivation and confidence to do.
